The domaine
The Domaine des Chênes has belonged to Razungles family for a century. It is located at Vingrau, at the northern limit of Roussillon. This picturesque little village is nestled in the heart of a splendid circle of high calcareous cliffs. Whereas the site is near the Mediterranean sea, it is also a sought-out destination for climbers and for lovers of prehistory. The Arago cave, the cradle of the Tautavel man, is situated close to the village. The Vingrau valley is an oasis of vines lost in a mineral ocean were only the garrigue, pines and holm oaks survive. The domaine’s name derives from the latter. Whatever road is taken to approach the village, we are surrounded by this sweet-smelling flora. The majority of the vines of the domaine grow on slopes, interrupted by low stone walls. The Domaine des Chênes covers around thirty hectares distributed on the best terroirs, between 120 and 350m in altitude. The entire vineyard is classified Appellation of Origin. Alain Razungles, professor of enology, manages the domaine nowadays. He offers you a large palette of wines: white, red, dry or sweet, which demonstrate the exceptional quality of the Vingrau terroir.
